Chitakara University is a private university located in Chandigarh and the university has campuses at Punjab and Himachal Pradesh as well. The university came into existence in the year 2008 and the university is under private ownership of Chitkara Educational Trust actually based on Chandigarh. The campus of the university at Himachal Pradesh and Punjab are provided with state-of-the art facilities and it has the right to confer degrees according the section 2 (f) and 22 (1) of the University Grants Commission Act 1956.
