Gauhati
University came into existence in the year 1948 under the University Act. The
university is offering several post graduate and under graduate courses in the
faculties of law, commerce, science and arts. The colleges affiliated to this
university are spread over the entire lower area of the state of Assam and at
present 38 departments are offering education under the university. About 136
colleges are affiliated to the university and these colleges are offering
